Motherhood Session // Carina & Harrison // La Grande Photographer
While I genuinely enjoy every bit of time spent with all of my clients, and every session has its own unique story and memory for me - there are some sessions that have a special stamp on them. Sometimes its just a really strong connection with the people I am photographing, or they listened to my advice about relaxing and enjoying their kids instead of worrying about looking at the camera, and other times its the location itself that creates the magic. Sometimes its all of those things combined! Whatever the cause may be, there are certainly some sessions that hold an extra special place in my heart. This beautiful evening session with Carina & Harrison is one of those!
Despite it being past Harrison’s bedtime, we had a truly lovely time, filled with flower-smelling, snuggles, dancing, and what Harrison calls “love attacks”. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Carina and Harrison since he was a wee little guy who came to my house for daycare. He’s a fellow Taurus like me, and his personality is equally sweet and tender, intellectual and playful, and he emits boundless energy. His mama is hands down the kindest person I’ve ever met, and her energy is so calm and grounding. Not only does Carina teach yoga, but she also creates truly beautiful meditations and shares so much wisdom over on her Instagram account. As a mother and son pair, they were so relaxed, connected, and joyful. Photographing them was quite literally a breeze of fresh air, and I found myself laughing so much!
While I really need to write a blog post with tips on how to have the best session ever, let me share one little tidbit with you now: the best sessions with children happen when you, the parent let go of your expectation of having perfect poses and just immerse yourself in having a fun time with your little (or big) ones. Genuine affection and connection shines through, and its really hard to fake that. So don’t fake it - just be present and enjoy this time together, and let me show you how beautiful your family is through my lens.
