Friday Feature // Bellissima Hair Company & Boutique
If you follow my IG stories, you probably saw my recent hair makeover. I went from super blonde to rose gold - which is incredibly pretty and fun. Even though I’m low-maintenance in terms of actually doing my hair every day (let’s be real - my mom bun game is strong), I am picky about my hair color. I attribute this to having a sister who is a stylist and has managed my hair care since her beauty school days. I’ve been spoiled, and got used to having impeccable color and changing said color frequently. So when my sister moved away to PDX two years ago (booooo), I started the hunt of finding a stylist who is the perfect fit for me. I’ve met some absolutely wonderful stylists, and we have many of them locally. For me however, the perfect stylist has three things: amazing color skills, a salon that is both super chill and has some extra special appeals, and most importantly - a personality that I absolutely click with. If I’m going to spend several hours having my hair done, I want to spend that time with someone who I could see myself easily hanging out with in real life.
After a couple months of following each other on Instagram and liking each other’s posts, I somehow managed to win a free eyebrow waxing with a local stylist/esthetician who works at Bellissima. I had watched her hair color before and after posts, and loved what I was seeing - so when I won the eyebrow wax, I immediately decided that I also wanted to have her change my hair from blond to rose gold. She was amazing at talking with me beforehand about what exact shades I was interested in having, and even went out of her way to do some of her own research on the best products to reach our goal.
I had never been to Bellissima, but I knew that it was inside a cute little house right by downtown. When I walked in I was blown away! Its absolutely gorgeous inside, and oh so cozy! The owner, Lucy Frederick, has created a space that is entirely welcoming, clean, and bright. There are cute and comfy chairs in every corner, and to me it felt like a place I could just hang out for hours.
As it turns out, Hillary is incredibly fast at color! She had me in and out in less than three hours - just in time for me to run and pick up my daughter from school and bring her back to the salon for a pixie haircut! Hillary was fantastic with my daughter as well. We all know how terrible it is to cut hair on small children, but she kept my wiggly 3 year old fully engaged and focused on staying still. While she cut Ivy’s hair, I wandered the salon and checked out their boutique in the front area! The owner stocks some beautiful clothes for both adults and kids. They also carry shoes, purses, jewelry, a few home products, and a good variety of hair care products (and some beard care for men!).
I was highly impressed with the atmosphere, and over all it was a fabulous experience! My brows are finally in good shape again after a couple months of neglect, my hair looks simply amazing, my daughter’s hair is ridiculously cute, and all the girls who work at the salon are so sweet and fun to talk with! I am already looking forward to my next appointment!
