I am a firm believer that, in order to avoid burnout, all artists must have a soul project - some source of creative output that fills up our passion cup. For me, I find great joy in collaborative work that allows me to stretch my brain and try new things. Traveling Dress projects are absolutely perfect for this, because not only do I get to meet some absolutely wonderful photographers around the country (and world!), but I get to dig deep and put together a shoot that really rekindles my love for the art of taking a photograph. To date I have participated in four traveling dress collaborations, and each one has filled my soul in ways that I didn’t even realize I needed!
This shoot features a dress by Free People. In a serendipitous fashion, my wonderful friend Kel Ward (Look up her photography, she’s fab!) sent me a beautiful yellow duster that made her think of me, and it arrived in time to use for this shoot - it paired perfectly with the dress! Sweet little Ayla wore an outfit that I styled for her; a skirted long-sleeve onesie and socks from Spearmint Baby, and a crochet alpaca wool bonnet made by me.
My absolutely lovely models Sara, Ayla and Jesse met me at Cape Kiawanda beach in Pacific City on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We spent an hour playing and dancing on the beach, and OH MY GOODNESS how this dress fit so perfectly with the colors of the environment! Cape Kiawanda is truly one of Oregon’s most magical places to visit!
